Eligibility Requirements:
🔹 Citizen of and living in an African country (open to citizens/residents across the entire African continent, including refugees and asylum seekers) 🔹 Have NEVER registered for or completed a master's degree 🔹 Valid passport and admissible to Canada as an international student (Study Permit required) 🔹 Those with dual citizenship, or asylee/refugee/permanent resident status in the US, Canada, UK, or EU are NOT eligible 🔹 Exceptional record of service, leadership, and community involvement 🔹 Demonstrated desire to give back to your home community 🔹 Evidence that financial constraints have restricted your educational opportunities 🔹 35 years or younger at the time of application 🔹 Admissible to McGill graduate admissions requirements for your chosen program

Register for and attend a mandatory information session (required before you can access the application form — check the official page for the next available session date)
Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application Form
If pre-screened successfully, provide any additional documentation requested by the program team (results typically communicated within 4–6 weeks)
Successfully pre-screened applicants receive a fee waiver and instructions to apply for admission to McGill
Complete your McGill graduate program admission application
Final scholarship recipients are selected by the Scholarship Committee after admission review
